I'm running into a problem with adding users to departments and assigning uploaded files to departments. I can add departments without problem, but can't make any assignments to those departments.
Any one else run into this?

Can you give me a step-by-step process for reproducing your issue?

Well, essentially:
For a user:
log in as admin
go to the admin settings > create a new department (such as "USER")
Back to admin functions
Update a user > Select the Department "User" from the list > Update
Back to admin functions > Display Departments > Choose "User"
Does not display any users having been assigned to the department. If I return the user's profile, it has no recollection of the department having been assigned to that user.
For a file:
Browse for the file
Choose a Category
Choose the department, "User"
Choose authority level
Add description and comment
Select Permissions...
Add the document.
If I go back to the home page with the listed documents, I find that the department is not changed, but the other settings appear to have committed to the DB just fine. The file department just defaults to Infomation Systems.
Hopefully this is specific enough. Maybe I've missed a step or whatnot...

Ok, for the first issue:
Is it possible you are trying to set the "Reviewer" department box? That is only used if the "Reviewer" box is set. To set a users' department, you select from the "Department" dropdown list. This worked for me, and when I displayed the department, it showed the user as being a member.

The second issue:
Is it possible you are interpreting the Author's department in the main file list as the problem? If you edit the file, you should see that as you select from different departments, the "authority" radio toggle will change with it. Each department can have different authority for the file. But in the main display, the authors' department is displayed.

I think that perhaps I wasn't clear on the Author Verus Reviewer boxes... but I did notice how that worked when I last tinkered with ODM -- which was a while back, but I haven't been here since that point to comment about it...
Thanks.
