Is there a way within the admin page to remove a department?

No currently. You can only rename them. You could add that as a feature request.

Hello Steve,

Renaming of a department is not working. But i fixed both issues.

I also do some "improvemnets" at the layout. Send me a PM and i will send you the link to the modified pages.
