Greetings Everyone
I had looked at a previous version of this DMS on a Windows (WAMP) platform but felt it may not have met our needs at the time. I understand it has come a lot further since that test and the search for a DMS solution has now come down to this and Logicaldoc. The advantage here is that we are already using a VPS with CentOS 7 and LAMP for 2 other software projects. As such I would like to get some answers to some concerns that could make the choice.

Q1 - The VPS is currently set up with a NO-IP host name so I would like to know if we can install ODM so that the URL to get to the Login Page would be http://myhostname.ddns.net/mylibrary?

Q2 - We have 3 sets of documents that are not related to each other so would need to do multi tenant implementation. Can we do this with ODM?

Q3 - Can we we use a department type structure in ODM? In the case of our business documents, persons involved in sales are not to have access to documents related to training or those related to technical support resources.

Q4 - How much control do we have over what any specific user can do with documents they have access to (print, download, copy, email, etc.)?

Q5 - Are we able to use such things like a custom landing page?

Q6 - If we really like the product how much freedom do we have for branding?

I'm trying to get a new installation of OpenDocMan up and running. I'm installing on a new Ubuntu 17.04 LAMP system. I've managed to get webMin and PHPMyAdmin installed so it would seem that MySQL and PHP and Apache are up and running. When I try to get to the initial configuration screen it just brings up a blank page with the exception of displaying the 'OpenDocMan' logo. I'm assuming that I have a permissions issue that causing part of the page to not render correctly or completely. Can anyone provide guidance for what to look for and where? It's been a while since I did a setup on Ubuntu, but I believe that the Apache system uses the 'www-data' user but I don't think that user has a password defined, or if it does, I don't know what it is. It's just the default that is installed with the system.

I cant get to server logs and I can access only FTP / MySQL side of it.

Hello,

I'm looking for DMS solution for a specific purpose. I have created an interactive PDF document for distribution to employees of a small company. Within the PDF, I would like to create a document menu that would use a URL in each menu item so that User can access and open files from OpenDocMan by clicking the active link (menu item).

For example, in a page in the interactive PDF, a static menu may look like this (fake URLs)

Medical claim form

Medical plan description

Prescription drug plan description

Etc.

Etc.

In each instance, the URL would point to the location in OpenDocMan server so as to access and open the individual PDF to which the URL points, in a new window. Questions:

1. Is this a possible functionality with OpenDocMan?
2. If so, is it possible to have the links work without login? So that any person with the interactive PDF would have immediate ability to open and view the PDFs that are linked?
3. If #2 is not possible, would a single initial login when attempting to open a link then allow continued file viewing without additional logins?

Thank you for any help.
If just set it up without upload and checkin permissions, download of documents is not available to this user.
If I assign reviewer of a category to this user, then it is possible to download files but the user may also check out and check in files.
Is there any way around this?

Please I would like to know, will my files be accessed to any one from the OpenDocMan company?
I know they are not interested in my files, but I wonder if our files will be stored in our own server, is there anything in between that could have or take a copy of our files?

And how can I secure our files? we will be having a local server for this

I have a customer that needs a doc management system (volunteer fire company.) They want to upload docs, allow some to read, some to download, and some to upload.

I see no worries here.

But, they also want to store pictures on the server. I uploaded a .jpb file to the system and get an error message when I try to open it.

Seems to me that a better way to deal with this is to provide access to docs via OpenDocMan, allow uploads of pictures through the interface, but store them in a separate directory or series of directories. That way, you can create a menu item or default location for users to access just the photos and skip all the doc management stuff.

If the pics were stored in a separate folder, this would be easy to accomplish. Is there a configuration parameter that could be used to accomplish this? If not, is there a problem storing pics in the doc management interface and being able to view them?

Would appreciate any thoughts you have on this topic.

Thanks.
