PDFs will not open files has been damaged - mattsonmacleod - 01-31-2012 When I login to OpenDocMan I see all of my files that have been uploaded. I am able to download the files but when I try to open then in Acrobat this message comes up: --Acrobat could not open 'R Basta Health Care Proxy.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF.-- The database look complete and the document_repository does have several dat files in it. You help is appreciated. Thanks! Re: PDFs will not open files has been damaged - Stephen - 01-31-2012 You can test one of the files on the server by copying it somewhere and renaming it .pdf . The file contents are not changed when they are added, just the extension is. So you should be able to view the file outside of OpenDocMan. If so, and the file is not viewable inside OpenDocMan, then we can proceed to investigate. Steve Re: PDFs will not open files has been damaged - mattsonmacleod - 02-01-2012 I did change the extension and was able to open the file as a PDF. How do I get OpenDoc to recognize the files properly? Also, 82 documents are listed in OpenDoc but only 14 documents are in the "document_repository/archiveDir" directory. Are the other files missing? Thank you for your help. Re: PDFs will not open files has been damaged - Stephen - 02-01-2012 What happens if you add a new PDF file. Does it work properly, and it is only an issue for old files? Re: PDFs will not open files has been damaged - mattsonmacleod - 02-01-2012 Yes, The new file worked and it is in the document_repository directory. What could cause the files to disappear from the directory. I looked back in my tech notes and this is the second time this happened. Is there anyway of recovering these files? Can I FTP the files and name them with the ID number and .dat at the end? Re: PDFs will not open files has been damaged - Stephen - 02-02-2012 It sounds like you might have a database corruption issue. Have you tried to use a different browser for trying to view the opendocman files? Also, can you please check your web server error log to see if there are any php errors being reported? |
