Full Version: Individual file expiry

Dear Stephen,
Thank you for providing an outstanding and free document management system!
I would love to see the following implemented in future editions:
1. An individual file expiry value for each file being added into the DMS. Options: DatePicker/Does not expire
2. An automated service to check doc expiry status and send alert mails to the author and users with file access. If it can't be automater, this could even be triggered everytime someone uses the DMS.

I'm trying to add this field in add.php, but I'm not really a PHP guy so the going is slow. Any other tips that you could offer would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Prashanth

Hello Prashanth & Stephen,

This is exactly the feature we want (my company).
What is the current status with Expiry Date metadata field?
Can I help? I am a programmer, albeit not a PHP one. However, I think that I can help with realization of this feature.

Best Regards,
Toshko
Hi All,

Any updates on this?

Hi,

Not from my side, since I am still waiting for some input from the creator of this thread.
However, I might be looking into this in the next week or so.

I will post my progress (if any).

Email notification would be great also. But if it only gave message on top of screen for all assosieted with file it would be enough.
I will ask our director and IT department to edit your 1.2.6 version script and add file expiration date and notification.
Not sure if they will approve it, but I need few answers before I do.

1. What happens with files that expire?
2. Do you plan on adding that feature in 1.2.6 or any part of it?
3. When will 1.2.6 final be released?
4. Not in direct relation, but important for company, when will new tree view be avaible? It's very good sorting method for as and much more usable for not-techi personel then file list.

Thanks.

#1: They are "checked-out", essentially they have their status updated.
#2: That feature is in our current plans. Possibly a good candidate for a "plug-in".
#3: 1.2.6 final is nearly complete, but my schedule has been very busy lately and have not had much time to work on a performance issue that needs to be resolved.
#4: Not sure about that one, it is another candidate for a plug-in to be created to perform that function.
