Config.php - datadir - tylerbryant - 01-21-2010

Having problems configurating datadir on webserver.
It is a hosted site - I have manually created the mySQL tables - and was able to add a user...

I can't seem to configure datadir - I get "There is a problem with your dataDir. Check to make sure it exists and is writeable"

I have a 'data' directory off my subdomain...
I have tried several different paths .

My URL is <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href=""></a><!-- m --> -> with data directory on next level

I have set full write access on to all folders.

This is running on a linux webserver -- any suggestions.

If you have verified that the folder exists, and is at the place that the config.php file has in it, then it is probably a permissions issue. Are you able to access that folder at all? Either through a shell, or through your hosting control panel?

Re: Config.php - datadir - paddyilos - 01-23-2010

I am having this same problem with configuring the datadir folder. i have setup the database etc.
When ever i login I get the "There is a problem with your dataDir. Check to make sure it exists and is writeable" error message. Following the example of the previous post, i created a subdomain (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href=""></a><!-- w -->) and created a folder using that sub domain (<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href=""></a><!-- w -->).

Now in the config_local.php file, I used this:
$GLOBALS['CONFIG']['dataDir'] = '';

I get the same "There is a problem with your dataDir. Check to make sure it exists and is writeable" error message. I set the permission of the folder to 777. Am i doing something wrong.

how to overcome -> There is a problem with your dataDir. Check to make sure it exists and is writeable

Re: Config.php - datadir - Stephen - 01-25-2010

This message is being generated from a simple test to see if the folder you set as the "dataDir" in config.php is actually where you say it is, and then makes sure it is writeable by the web server.

So, if there is a problem, first verify that the path you entered there is correct by navigating to the folder on your server manually. If it is there, next thing would be to make sure you have the folder in a location that the web server can use it. If it is, then make sure the folder has the proper permissions that allow the web server to write to it.

Re: Config.php - datadir - kingpin - 02-23-2010

I have this error

Parse error: parse error, expecting `')'' in C:\wamp\www\OpenDocMan\config.php on line 93

my config.php is:

// Uncomment this one for Windows - Don't forget the trailing backslash "\"
'dataDir' => 'c:\document_repository\',
// Uncomment this one for Linux - Don't forget the trailing slash "/"
//'dataDir' => '/var/www/document_repository/',

path c:\document_repository\ exist

Re: Config.php - datadir - Stephen - 02-24-2010

You probably have a typo in the config.php file somewhere. Try copying a new config.php and being careful to edit just the parts you need to.

Re: Config.php - datadir - lkoumis - 03-02-2010
